LLG worked in partnership with the Carlisle Area Health & Wellness Foundation to promote, develop and implement Safe Routes to School (SRTS) programs in three area schools and communities in Carlisle, PA.
LLG trained school teams on how to conduct walkability and bikeability audits of three neighborhoods using GIS-based maps. LLG also helped to prepare grant applications for SRTS funding.
The plan included recommendations and design concepts for traffic calming measures and educational and enforcement strategies to make walking and bicycling to school a safe and routine transportation option.
